Gotta Love Sequins Shirt Tutorial

I had plans. So many plans and ideas for this Valentines Day. You know what happened? Nothing! That is just how life goes sometimes. We have our plans, but they don’t always work out. Things like traveling and sickness have slowed us down quite a bit. But, I did do this one little tutorial today to share :)

I know Valentine’s Day is almost over (and already is in some parts of the world), but it’s still a fun little shirt and can be worn year round.

It’s very quick to make and only takes a few supplies to create.

We had a lot of fun with the pictures too. This little girl was having so much fun doing these pics for me! Lately she hasn’t been into picture taking as much so I was pleasantly surprised.

She really liked this shirt. In fact, I was going to have her change back out of it after the pictures but she said she wanted to keep it on until her daddy got home so he could see it.

I even had to make some felt lips to go along with the theme.

And, of course, we couldn’t take all these pics without the baby!

She joined in on the fun, but seemed most interested in the furry rug!

Big sis was having fun trying to keep her in place,

and giving her felt lips too :)

To make your own Gotta Love Sequins shirt, you will need the following:
-A shirt (this one came from Target; it’s on sale for $5 right now)
-Sequin trim
-Fabric glue
-Scissors
-Plastic bag

Place the plastic bag inside the shirt and flatten out. This will prevent fabric glue from seeping through to the other side of the shirt.

Prepare the sequin trim by pulling off a few sequins first. I find it easier to work with this way as none of the sequins will be falling off as you begin to work with it.

Then take your fabric glue and write the word love with it however you like.

Then grab you sequin trim and place on top of glue. You will need to add some glue on the spots where the sequins overlap.

Once the glue has dried, trim off the string ends.

Also trim off an extra sequins that are on the very end as well.

So cute! Gotta love these quick easy projects :) For washing purposes, I recommend washing it inside out and then air drying it.

Happy Valentine’s Day from the Fediw’s!!!!!

PS: Noticed baby’s headband? I made it wayyyyyyyy back in 2009! See here. I used this pattern, but changed it a bit. I think I just added the flower petals on top :) It was something simple like ch 3, sc in stitch, then keep going all the way around (if that makes sense!).

So cute and easy! My daughter would love this. I’m curious, how did the sequins/glue hold up in the wash?

    Meghan,

It is holding it well :) They are staying on. The only thing that happened is that some of the sequins have lost a little bit of the color (not faded, just scratched off looking). But, it still looks good and is holding up well. And we are putting it in the dryer. I just make sure that it is turned inside out. She wears it at least once a week as it’s one of her faves now :)
