Baby Getty

There’s a little girl named Getty who was born in March. She came into the world to a happy set of loving parents. She also came into the world with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).

Spinal muscular atrophy is an inherited disease that causes progressive muscle degeneration and weakness, eventually leading to death. Infants like Getty with SMA Type 1 are born with very little muscle tone, weak muscles, and develop feeding and breathing problems over time. Weakness gets worse over time and will eventually become severe. There is no cure or treatment for the progressive weakness. The lifespan with SMA1 is seldom longer than 2 – 3 years.

For Getty Owl Auction

To raise awareness of this disease and to help Baby Getty, Getty Owl was created. On this site, the family shares their story and different fundraisers that go on to raise awareness. This past Saturday was a big event and I was so happy to be able to participate by donating a dish & spoon set for auction.

I also have two sets listed up on Etsy. 50% of the proceeds from them will go to Getty Owl.
The free pattern for these is also listed here for anyone who wants to make some yourself :) If you can, please keep this family in your prayers. I can’t even imagine having to go through a circumstance like this. But, I do know God can do amazing things!!!!!

“Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For the momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things that are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Just some encouragement I thought you could pass on to Baby Getty’s family. There was a little girl who lived across from me who had SMA. She is now 17 and has amazed all of her doctors (she wasn’t supposed to live past 2).

is there any way we can just donate some money directly. Maybe if they have some kind of paypal account people can donate. I would love to donate if that is possible.
