Black & White Maternity Top

May 2, 2011 by Jessica 23 Comments

I’m working on my self pictures some more and experimenting with patterns. I have decided I am going to get a remote for my camera this week to help me out (thanks to a tip on Facebook ;).

Here is a top I made last week using Simplicity 2657. I’m delving into my fabric stash and seeing what I can do with what I have. The top is leftover fabric from my daughters dresser and the bottom is from curtains I had made for the office room in our Jax house (we didn’t need them in this house).

I’m fairly pleased with it, but after making this and two more that I will be showing this week, I’m thinking of sticking with knits. I’m getting to that point where I want soft and stretchy. The top wasn’t altered, but I made up my own bottom part. It was just a rectangular piece that I strategically pleated in the front and a little in the back to make the extra room for baby.

Everything else can get to that uncomfortable point. I like knits better too for dealing with the Florida heat.
