The Cat Dress

August 4, 2009 by Jessica 18 Comments

This is the dress I made for my daughter’s birthday.

Good enough

I wanted to go for the Japanese sewing book style. I actually have a kids clothing one, but I was too lazy to figure it out. I just came up with my own design and tailored it to her.

Front of Cat Linen Dress

I embroidered/appliqued the cat on (pattern here found via One Pretty Thing).

Close up of embroidery/applique

I don’t do too much embroidery, but it was nice and relaxing to do a little bit.

Back of Cat Linen Dress

Of course, my daughter loved it. She kept pointing at the cat and the little 2’s I added in with the rain since she is two now.

    thank you everyone 🙂

“did you refashion your daughters dress from another garment? It has a skirt like quality,”

Actually, I used a linen material called linen suiting. I bought it at JoAnn’s. It was nice and soft.
