Christmas Pictures at the Park

Christmas Pictures

Happy New Year everyone!  I’m trying to get back into the swing of things over here. I took some time off to enjoy some family that came and visited and to just focus on taking of the girls because my hubby was out of town for a month for some work training. We weren’t able to pull off Christmas pictures as a family, but I did try to get some pics of the girls. They were less than cooperative, but who could blame them? We were in a beautiful state park on a gorgeous day and the deer were out! I will just let the pics speak for themselves for this post ;) I’m happy to be back and ready to share crafty things! I’m hoping to make some good changes over on this little space this year as long as time allows.

Family Session in the Park

M Family Session

I have been a little more busy with photo sessions recently and it’s been so much fun! I did these of my friend and her family and was so excited when she agreed to let me do that at a local state park. I had always wanted to do a session here. We had a lot of fun planning it and all the spots we would use. The park was gorgeous and so was the sunshine! Apparently it’s the place to be too. I bet there were at least 7 other photographers there taking pictures of families. It figures since it’s so beautiful and there aren’t many beautiful places that are public around here. We had to wait our turn at a few of these spots lol.

I tried to get a good mix of portrait pics and lifestyle ones. It was fun capturing the boys in their element!

Tomorrow is a big day of photography for me as well. I’m doing mini sessions! All proceeds will be going to the missions program at my church and I’m excited to see how it goes. I always enjoy trying things out to see if they are for me or not. Anyone else doing family pictures soon?

The Wedding

A & L Wedding

It took me long enough to share these didn’t it? I think after everything I needed some rest and then the girls got sick, and then life, so I let the blog go to the back burner for a bit. But with fall in the air (kind of…I mean a high of only 84 was spectacular this past weekend!), I’m feeling ready to get back down to business. Here are some of the pictures I took at my brother and sister in law’s wedding. I have never done a wedding, so I was a bit nervous. Especially since I didn’t really have some of the equipment I would have preferred to have (like off camera flash at night), but it all worked out. Thankfully they are super easy to please and it was fun to be able to bless them with this.

A & L Wedding

They had the wedding ceremony and reception at The Freight Shed in Yorktown, VA. It was such a beautiful day!!!! It was a little cool and the sun was perfect. I worked hard to make sure I got all the standard pics as well as some fun ones. They are a laid back and fun couple and you can see that in their wedding. Everything went well overall and turned out beautiful. I think the only mishap was the bride’s shoes could not be found. Fortunately, there were some other shoes that worked. Enjoy the pics and I plan to be back with some crafty things here soon :)

P Family/Maternity Session

P Family Session

I was blessed to do a fun maternity/family photo session back in June with a wonderful family we know. I was so impressed with how open they were to my ideas :) I like being able to throw in some fun pics.

P Family Session

We started the session off with some family photos and then they agreed to the yarn. The littles and dad wrapped up mommy’s belly. I also got some pics of the kids covered in yarn to create the below photo (template is from Paint the Moon’s facebook templates). I had always wanted to do a yarn theme, so I was so glad they obliged.

P Family Session

The rest of the pics are fun, but my favorite is the black and white one of the dad praying over his child while in the womb. It was so precious and I got a little teary eyed when taking those pictures. It was beautiful to see a family together that was full of so much love for each other. You can see more pics from this session here.

Now I need to catch up on my own photos! We recently went to New Orleans, celebrated miss J’s birthday, and have miss E’s birthday coming up as well. I feel like my to do list is extra long at the moment. But, it’s full of very good things so I can’t complain.

DIY Photo Canvas Kit

DIY Photo Canvas Kit Review

I recently received a Photo Canvas Kit c/o Cosco. I was very excited about this product because I really like photo canvases. I was also a bit nervous, because I wasn’t so sure how great it would be. I’m happy to report that I’m actually pretty pleased with it. Especially for the price!

DIY Photo Canvas Kit Review

This kit contains 3 photo canvases that 9.5″ x 7″ when finished. It is $29.99 (coming out to $10 a canvas) and you can find it at Office Max stores and online.

I picked three pictures to print out. They sent me that city skyline one as an example so you can see mine compared to that one. I will say that the better your printer, the better these will turn out. We have a cheapy printer, an HP Deskjet F4280, so I made sure to check the print quality as high as possibly. I also learned that the more faded pictures, like the one of miss J and the balloons, don’t print out as well on my printer. It still is okay. I wish they put in one more piece of canvas paper to use in case of an oops. They do say to print it on regular paper first to make sure it is set up right and will print good, but I didn’t want to use that much ink up.

The above pics are of the packaging and to show you what comes it in. You receive three canvas papers, 3 plastic frames to put it on, double sided tape, and even stands if you want to put them out on a table. So if you are wanting to make some canvases yourself and have a printer you trust, I do recommend this kit. Just remember to follow all of the printing instructions carefully (like putting it on a high quality print setting and making sure it’s going to print borderless) and you will get a nice canvas. Here is a quick demo video as well if you want to see more details.

A Sweet Spring Family Session

Lecompte Family Session

Friday I had the pleasure of doing this sweet family’s pictures. It was a lot of fun and they were so great to work with! Momma did good with bringing awesome props. I love props and I feel like they can really add a lot of pictures if used right. Here are a few of my faves for you to enjoy :) Now I need to go finish my design for Project Run and Play!

A Lovely Family Session

B Family Session

It’s the month of love and what a better place to see love in action than in a family. I had the pleasure of capturing this family together back in December. It was so much fun! They were so natural and made my job super easy. Aren’t they all just gorgeous? I’ll leave you with a few of my faves here. I need to get some things done tonight as I am a little behind on some obligations/projects. And guess what? I have a pattern out to testers right now!!!! About time, right?

A Christmas Session for Friends

Christmas Couple Photo Session

Cutest couple ever, right? I was blessed to do a photo session for our friends last month.

Christmas Couple Photo Session

I just love how it turned out!!!! I really feel like I am pushing my little camera to the max! lol.

Christmas Couple Photo Session

They let me take them on an adventure for this on too. He drove his truck because we had to go off road. Fortunately, we made it out okay. My hubby and I had tried to get there at first to check the area out in my fake suv Pacifica, but we got stuck! Ha! A few sticks got us out of the muddy hole, but it made me nervous to go there again.

Christmas Couple Photo Session

The truck proved very beneficial. I told Will he needs to get one for when I find photo spots like this one ;)

Christmas Couple Photo Session

My friend did such a fabulous job with the photo props. It was perfect. She’s a crafty/stylish girl herself you know.

They are Engaged

IMG_4740edit-copy
She saw a pic on pinterest for this. It’s one of their favorite photos.

I’m a little disappointed today as I had a diy planned, but it did not work out. But, I did learn something about different types of suede fabric! I’m hoping to get the right kind and make it work :) So I leave you today with some pictures of a wonderful couple (my brother in law and his fiance) whom I had the pleasure to do their pictures for when we visited Virginia this summer. It was my first engagement session and I’m so loving how they turned out! You can see more pictures from it here.
Just for some background of the shoot, we started when it was raining and it ended up clearing so we went downtown and I pushed my little ole camera to it’s limits! Then I ended up seeing them on a sunny day and asked if I could get some “sunny” shots before we left. So they ended up with quite a variety :)
See you tomorrow!

My First Photo Canvas *Ever*

My Publisher Canvas review

I have always admired all of those pretty photo canvases that people would use to create photo walls. So when I had the opportunity to have one c/o My Publisher I quickly accepted.

My Publisher Canvas review

I wanted to use a summer picture, so I picked this one of my two girls. It’s hard to get a really good one with both of them looking “normal” (hahaha) so this was the best I could get. I love it though because it’s so them :) Plus, the sun behind them was just perfect! The canvas turned out spectacular and I’m so very happy with it! I can’t wait to create a fun wall with this on it. I’ll show it for sure when I get it all together.

My Publisher Canvas review
{Flowers from our garden}

Here are a few tips from My Publisher to help you capture your summer pictures:

1.        Take advantage of summer sunsets
The lighting of pink and blue summer sunsets is the perfect backdrop for your memories.
2.       Underwater fun!
Give your pictures a unique setting by shooting them in the ocean or pool. With an underwater camera, you can capture your family among the amazing creatures you met while snorkeling or the fun times you had splashing around playing pool volleyball.
3.       Play with different angles
Take a break! Give the little ones a chance to be creative. Buy each child a disposable camera and get a “new perspective on life” with the pictures taken from a child’s point of view.
4.      Display your memories
Show off your best shots! Create canvas prints as well as photo books to keep in the hub of the home: the kitchen, living room or wherever your family spends the most time.
5.       Customize it!
Create a high quality, personalized photo book that will last generations with MyPublisher’s variety of customizable options.

I hope you have had a good summer and for those of you still in summer, remember to take your camera with you and capture those memories!
