I heart things that look simple and are simple to make. What about you? I have another Christmas present down!
Made from a placemat. I love how most of the work was already done for me. I almost have two more placemat clutches made as well. We have this Dillard’s clearance center near us (it’s amazing) and they had stocked up on their napkins and placemats. I had a ball and bought most at only $1.50 each! They were originally a lot more than that.
Great job, the bag looks good!
It’s called plastic canvas, if that’s what you were referring to. ๐
love the bag, great job!
Ooh, I used to live near a Dillard’s outlet!! Love that place! Great placemat clutch.
Cute! That purple is great! And I have no idea what the thingy with the holes is, but I bet it works like a charm ๐
I absolutely LOVE your blog I always look forward to seeing what cute idea you will post next! I have had a sewing machine for years but have never used it and I have now pulled it out and I can’t wait to try out your cute ideas!! thanks for sharing!!!

So CUTE! I’ve been trying to come up with some ideas I can go ahead and start making for Christmas. That is definitely getting added to my list!!
whoa…so cool! this is one of those things that people will say…”why didn’t I think of this myself!?” genius! and, jealous of your dillard’s outlet!
I love this! The colour is lovely, and I’m sure you could get away with saying you quilted it by hand ๐
you are so creative..I just love coming to visit you…thanks for always inspiring me. this clutch is adorable
Very cute! I will have to be on the lookout for cut placemats! Is the plastic stuff what people do needle point on?
hi i just discovered your neat blog and i am having fun. do you have any tutorial on the placemat clutch and how did you do the fabric floral accent on it. nikki woodhead from idaho
Wow…it makes me feel so much better that I’m not the only one making Christmas gifts already! ๐ Adorable clutch – great idea.
What a great clutch! I love how you used placemats. It sounds like you used plastic canvas for the bottom of the bag.
Genious – love that idea!!
Love the clutch. That plastic stuff is called “plastic canvas”, I keep a stash of it to use in my crochet and knit hats with brims (bills) so that they will keep their shape.
Adorable!
Great job, I love the purple! This reminds me of the placemat purses my mom used make me when I was little, I thought I was so sophisticated when I played dress-up with those!
Oh, this is beautiful! The quilting just makes it. I think I’ll be browsing the clearance aisles for quilted placemats . . . I have an aunt who would adore this for a Christmas present.
Thanks for sharing your project! Great blog, by the way. I’ve been reading for a few weeks now. ๐

Very elegant and beautiful, you would never look at that and say “oh look gloriah that silly woman is using a placemat for a purse” lol! Darling really!
Would LOVE a tutorial on this one! I can think of lots of people who would like these for Christmas!!! Too Cute!
So cute! You are amazingly talented and creative… quite inspiring!

Oh. My. Sweet. Goodness. That is stinkin’ brilliant. Why didn’t I think of that and how quickly can I get my hands on a huge stack of placemats to make some of those?! I totally know what I’m giving my girlfriends for Christmas now! Thanks! ๐
I have been reading your blog for a little while now and absolutely love your creativity and your blog…I’m a fan ๐
I LOVE love this idea. I may have to give it a try.
