I {Heart} Vintage Pillowcases

Vintage Pillowcase Dress

Any other vintage sheet lovers out there? I saw this pillowcase in a thrift store a few months ago and knew it needed to be made into a dress. I decided to keep it simple and just sew up a peasant dress with it for the little one. For this dress I used the Molly Peasant Dress pattern from Sis Boom. But, I have used this tutorial a lot before as well for peasant shirts/tops from Indie Tutes.

I love the soft colors of it and it’s really soft since it’s been through the washer quite a bit already :) In these pics we had gone out to lunch at a little cafe that is also an antique store that used to be an old post office. It’s such a beautiful building. I love going and walking around there.

I love sharing my love of vintage/antique things with my daughter. We use it to learn about history, time eras, and all that good stuff. I also love that she has developed a liking to these sorts of things as well. I going to go give her a hug and kiss right now :)

PS: If you don’t live in a place where you can find fun vintage pillowcases or are unable to, Smile and Wave is having a big Pillowcase Stash Sale right now.

I love vintage sheets and pillow cases too, and get so excited to find a great thrift shop score, they just don’t make them that that anymore!

I love thrift stores, but there aren’t any good ones around here. The ones we do have are located in bad neighborhoods. I am a big fan of yard sales, though, which my neighborhood has an abundance of. :)

I absolutely DO SHARE THE LOVE of vintage pillowcases! And literally I just got finished having a small tea party using some of ours as chair backs covers. SO it was especially fun to this PERFECT STYLE DRESS made out of one of yours. Just lovely.

That is such a gorgeous dress! It looks much better than any dresses I see in stores.

I’m definitely in love with vintage bedding, too! The patterns are so pretty and I love that they’re already worn in.

Lovely. I have a challange on my blog that is all about using an old bedsheet and make as much as you can from it. Theres should be no scraps left hopefully. People that joining are really creative.

Oh my goodness! The vintage pillowcase suits that pattern so well! I have that pattern in the adult size – I should really get cracking and make myself a dress before the weather warms up too much!

I might be slightly obsessed with vintage linens. I have twin daughters who run around in a lot of old sheets, LOL. I make pillowcase dresses out of them, primarily, but this peasant style is super cute…might have to give that a go. I love the look and feel of the soft florals. You just can’t buy that stuff new nowadays! Great job!

I made my little girl a vintage-style baby blanket out of that exact print – only I was lucky enough to find the sheet set at my Goodwill. Maybe I shall have to make her a peasant dress out of the leftovers. :)
