Kidswear: Glittery Mermaid Apron

April 13, 2012 by Jessica 4 Comments

Untitled

One of the last projects I finished up before our move was making 8 mermaid aprons.

Untitled

It was for one of Miss J’s classmates. Her mom had this idea for a mermaid birthday party where the little girls wear mermaid aprons and then the boys be pirates.

Untitled

She couldn’t find a mermaid skirt she liked and after looking at handmade ones online she decided she wanted it to be more of an apron so it would grow more with the girls and they wouldn’t trip while running around in it.

Untitled

She made the pattern and bought the supplies. I just sewed them all up!

Untitled

Isn’t that such a cute idea?

Untitled

It did take me forever to clean up all the glitter from the sparkly tulle fabric that she picked out though.

Untitled

We moved before the party happened, but she had me make one for Miss J as well.

Untitled

Here is a picture of the pattern she created. The ribbon was sewn on in 5 places across the top and the tail was just two long pieces of tulle sewn on.

Untitled

I had to trim the tulle once sewn on. All in all, it was an easy project, especially since I did it production line style ๐Ÿ˜‰

(Miss J’s Shirt and Shorts are from Target)

This is adorable! A friend of mine is having a mermaid party next month. She might just get a mermaid apron for her daughter!
