This is the one “unique” gift I was able to make this year for Father’s Day. I was inspired by my husband and the updating of our home office.
He has his side of the room and it’s so bare compared to mine. I wanted to make him something that was 1) not girly and 2) reflected him.
To make this, I found this roll of cork board at JoAnn’s. It was either $3.99 or $4.99. Use your coupon and get it super cheap!
Please note, it is very thin. I’m thinking of adding another layer for more support. I could have bought a regular bulletin board to do this….maybe I’ll redo it? Anyways, it’s still cute, no matter what. I could even be painted and made into wall art!
I then went web searching and found a silhouette that I liked. I rasterized it to make it print out on multiple sheets of paper (a program I found via Ashley). This made it big enough for me. I think you can do this somehow with regular computer programs, but I didn’t have time to look into it. So, I printed the pieces out, cut it out, and taped the pieces together.
Then I grabbed a sharpie and placed it wrong side up on the back of the cork board. I used the sharpie to trace it.
If you make a personalized bulletin board/wall art, please share your pictures in the flickr group.
