Cricut Trendy Tshirt DIY Challenge

Cricut Trendy Tshirt DIY Challenge | happy together "Grandma's House is Calling and I Must Go" Tshirt | happy together
I was able to participate in the Cricut Trendy Tshirt DIY Challenge this month and this is my entry. There are some soon to be released images for Cricut Design Space™ that bloggers were given to create a one of a kind tshirt with. I looked at my choices and the phone stuck out to me because my oldest is hitting a stage where she is more interested in talking on the phone with her friends and family. It’s not crazy talk on the phone for hours, but she’s asking more. I thought about what to put with it and I went with this wording “Grandma’s house is calling and I must go.” This comes from that quote “the mountains are calling and I must go” but it can also refer to caller id and it’s grandma’s house number showing up so she has to go and answer it. My mom loved this shirt and got a good laugh out of it and miss J was proud to wear it.

I used my go to Cricut Explore One™ to do the cutting and the Iron-on Glitter in Glitter Lipstick  for the words and the Iron-on Lite in Pink for the phone. Simple and cute. And can I just say, how cute is miss j looking like a preteen and all?!?!?!?! Love this girl! -jess

I parterned with Cricut  for this post and received supplies and compensation for doing so. Affiliate links have been used. All opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting businesses that support Happy Together.

A Tulle Skirt Per Request

A Tulle Skirt | happy together
I used my sewing machine a little bit recently. One of the things I made was this tulle skirt for miss E. She’s always asking for skirts and dresses and wanted a fun skirt to go with this shirt.

I tried a new technique by sewing the fabrics directly onto a wide elastic band at the waist. It didn’t go so well, but this little girl is still happy. And I learned some new things.

I might redo with the waist and I will definitely revisit the whole skirt sewing directly onto the elastic thing. I probably should have looked up how to do that first, but I always learn from my mistakes 🙂 Hopefully next time I will be successful. Any tips?

A Handmade Christmas Dress

A Handmade Christmas Dress | happy together
In the midst of the business that happens this month, I was able to make one of my daughter’s a Christmas dress. I really tried to do both, but the outfit I sewed up for miss J just wasn’t fitting quite right and I decided it would take a lot more time to fix the issues than I could afford. Miss E got a little dress though (and don’t worry, I will get one done for miss J too, just maybe closer to Christmas).

I used my As You Like It Dress pattern to make the dress. I am currently working on revising that pattern and should have it back in the shop by the end of January. I used a lovely embroidered pillow case to create a front apron on it. I actually have one more pillowcase like this and plan to create a dress to sell using it. A goal for next year is to create more one of a kind clothing pieces to stick in my shop every now and again…but that is another story 😉 I also used some vintage lace trim my mom had given me for the straps. The red fabric was gifted from a friend as she had used it for some birthday party decor and no longer needed it and I found the gingham at Hancock Fabrics. It all looks so precious together!

She wore the dress for the Christmas pictures I took of the girls. Here are other outfit details: Miss E- sweater/GapKids, Tights/Old Navy, Boots/Walmart; Miss J- Shirt and Hat/GapKids, Skirt and Leggings/Old Navy, Boots/Walmart. We ended up retaking these pictures because the first time did not go well! haha But we visited our adopted Louisiana family’s home and they did much better with the lovely distractions of fruit trees and a luscious garden to check out. Has anyone else made their littles an outfit for this month?

Over the past two weeks I have been creating a bun Over the past two weeks I have been creating a bunch of ocean creatures to decorate a shelf in an ocean themed nursery. I’m going to share one a day and end with the final installation. Today I’m featuring this whale made from denim. @sewitsmade shares a great free sewing pattern on her site for this. It’s an easy sew and is super cute 🐋 #sewitsmade #sewingproject #oceannurserydecor #whalesewingpattern #sewingforkids #diyprojects #nurserydecor
