A Lampshade Bird Cage

September 27, 2013 by Jessica 7 Comments

We have been slowly redoing miss J’s room lately. She loves nature, so I am trying to incorporate a lot of things that go with that. This lamp shade used to be a ribbon chandelier I made, but we changed it into a “bird cage”.

I wrapped all the wires with fabric strips, except for the top middle. Then I crocheted yarn around the top. I glued in some sticks for the birds to sit on and lastly glued on a ton of different trims to hang at the bottom.

I have seen things like this made before and was so happy I was able to make one. I told miss J if she ever grows tired of it, I will more than happily take it off her hands ๐Ÿ˜‰

Love the lamp shade …. I made my Christmas tree out of old lamp shades last year, kept the top one out with birds on and put it on a lamp in the front room….

Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ It really didn’t take too long. Under two hours, and that was with miss E interrupting me a lot ๐Ÿ˜‰

Gorgeous. I think I may put one in my bird room. I am sure my parakeets would love to perch on it.
