Alex the Monster Crochet Pattern

This is my first crochet pattern ever! (well, that I actually wrote down ๐Ÿ™‚ It is in honor of my nephew’s (Alex) birthday. He will be receiving this little guy in the mail, along with some other goodies, soon. This is me being late at getting to the post office yet again. Here is what you need to make this happy monster yourself.
Alex the Monster

Alex the Monster
Finished size- about 11โ€ from top of head to bottom of legs

Supplies:
-Yarn- any 2 colors of light(3) or medium (4) size yarn would work to achieve this particular size.
-Hook- size I (please feel free to use a smaller hook for the antennae and arms if needed)
-One large googly eye
-Yarn needle
-Fabric glue
-Stuffing

MC= main color (mine was brown)
OC= other color choice (mine was blue)

Head (using MC)
Ch. 4, sl st in first ch to form ring
Row 1: Sc 6 times in middle of ring (6 sc)
Row 2: Work 2 sc in each st around (12 sc)
Row 3: *Sc in next st, then 2 sc in next st* around (18 sc)
Row 4:*Sc in each of next 2 st, 2sc in next st* around (24 sc)
Row 5-6: Sc in each st (24 sc)
Row 7: *Sc in each of the next 4 st, dec* around (20 sc)
Row 8: *Sc in each of the next 3 st, dec* around (16 sc)
Row 9: *Sc in each of next 2 st, dec* around (12 sc)
Row 10: *Sc in next st, dec* around (8 sc)
Sl st in next st. Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing.

Body
Starting with MC, ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring
Row 1: Sc 6 times in middle of ring (6 sc)
Row 2: Work 2 sc in each st around (12 sc)
Row 3: Sc in each st (12 sc)
Row 4: *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st* around (18 sc)
Row 5: Repeat row 4 (27 sc)
Row 6: Switch to OC; Sc in each of next 2 st, 2sc in next st* around (34 sc)
Row 7: *Sc in each of next 2 st, dec* around (26 sc)
Row 8: Switch to MC *Sc in each of next 2 st, dec* around (20 sc)
Row 9: Sc in each st (20 sc)
Row 10: Repeat row 9
Row 11-12: Switch to OC and repeat Row 9
Row 13: Switch to MC *Sc in each of next 3 st, dec* around (16 sc)
Row 14: *Sc in each of next 2 st, dec* around (12 sc)
Row 15: *Sc in next st, dec* around (8 sc)
Slip stitch in next st. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Arms (with OC) Make 4
Ch. 3, sl st in 1st ch to form ring
Row 1: Sc 4 times in middle of ring (4 sc)
Row 2: Work 2 sc in each st around (8 sc)
Row 3: Dec, then sc in next 6 st (7 sc)
Row 4-10: Sc in each st (7 sc)
Sl st in next st. Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing.

Antenna (with MC) Make 2
Ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring
Row 1: Sc 3 times in middle of ring (3 sc)
Row 2 Work 2 sc in each st around (6 sc)
Row 3: Dec, sc in each of next 2 st, dec (4 sc)
Row 4-6: Sc in each st around (4 sc)
Sl st in next st. Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing.

Legs (with OC) Make 2
Ch 6, sl st in first ch to form ring
Row 1: Sc 8 times in ring (8 sc)
Row 2: Work 2 sc in each st around (16 sc)
Row 3: *Sc in each of next 3 st, dec* around until last st, then sc (13 st)
Row 4: *Sc in next st, dec* around, end with sc in last st (9 st)
Row 5-9: Sc in each st around (9 sc)
—-Stuff the leg—-
Row 10: Dec around, end with sc in last st (5 st)
Sl st in next st. Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing.

Assembly:
The legs have already been stuffed, so continue by stuffing the head, body, and arms.
Once done with that, sew on the head to the body. Then sew on the legs and arms. Next, sew on the antennas. You can now glue on the googly eye with fabric glue. Once it is dry, sew on a mouth if desired. Finish by making the hair (see below).

Hair Cut small pieces of leftover yarn and double knot it on top of head
