And Here Comes Summer

June 1, 2011 by Jessica 7 Comments

This week is a bit of an adjustment. Nothing major, I just don’t get two mornings to myself anymore. That’s right. The little ones preschool is done with for the summer. Oh how I will miss it, but we have PLENTY of things to do, so I’m not worried for lack of social activity or entertainment that’s for sure!

As a goodbye gift, we picked out some fabric from my stash and made some pretty headbands for her two teachers. My daughter also helped by sitting on my lap and guiding the fabric while sewing (well, she helped me guide it ;). Then she got to cut the threads when we were done sewing. She loved it. Of course, this made the project about 4 times longer than it would have taken me alone, but I wanted her to be as much a part of it as she could for her age.

Then we ran up to Target and she picked a few things (she loves nail polish, so of course we had to get them some). Then in a little basket it all went.

I made sure to have a new dress all ready for her last day of school as well. I have a pile of some cut out and this is one she had been waiting on for a while.

{See how tired the little thing looks? Because she woke up at 5 in the morning she was so excited about her school party!}

I used this pattern for her dress. She had a fabulous last day and I’m so happy with the little preschool we have found for her. I do look forward to it resuming again in the fall, but by then, I will have another little girl to take care of 🙂 So no more mornings off for me for another few years. It’s all worth it though.

    She looks adorable! I love her little dress 🙂 Those headband are such a good idea for gifts – and I love that you let her help make them. Say Hello to Summer for me… Winter has just arrived here.

I have this idea for Valentines decor on our mantl I have this idea for Valentines decor on our mantle and these fun confetti hearts I made are going to be a part of it. You can find a tutorial to make your own from @amanda_evanston . A few of the items I used in mine were: shredded Anthropologie shopping bag (and cut up the fabric handle too), cut up newspaper, hole punched card stock, fringe from yarn, cut up gold circle confetti, crinkled gift filler paper, etc... It was fun using all kinds of random things 😊
