Loopy Flowers

Loopy Flowers Tutorial

This is the second most requested flower. It’s really simple and has two different looks. It works best with stiffer things like felt and lightweight cardboard (I put some of these on my fall wreath), but fabric and other things could be used as well.

Loopy Flowers Tutorial

To begin, take a piece of felt (or desired material)

and fold in half.

Then cut slits on the folded edge, making sure not to cut all the way down.

Then finish it one of these two ways:

1)

Loopy Flowers Tutorial

Hand sew a baste stitch, with a knot on the end of the thread, down the side where there are no cuts.

Then gather it and sew the ends together. This creates a flat flower. Add a cute button or some other embellishment to the center.

2)

Roll the strip up and hand stitch the bottom together.

I made a bunch of these and then glued them on my daughter’s headband for a fun look.

And in the next day or two I will have one more flower that is requested for a lot. See you soon!

So I used thin denim, and these turned out beautifully. My daughter asked why we couldn’t put the 2 designs together, and so we tried it. I did the button style first, without the button and leaving a hole in the middle. Then we did the rolled style and pushed it through the hole in the first flower. It looks very nice! I sewed them together, and can’t wait to wear them out! Thank you so much.

I love this idea. How big was the piece of felt you cut in the first photo?

You know, it was such a long time ago I have no clue! I was just using a regular piece of acrylic felt from craft store though, so no longer than that. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help. -Jess

I have this idea for Valentines decor on our mantl I have this idea for Valentines decor on our mantle and these fun confetti hearts I made are going to be a part of it. You can find a tutorial to make your own from @amanda_evanston . A few of the items I used in mine were: shredded Anthropologie shopping bag (and cut up the fabric handle too), cut up newspaper, hole punched card stock, fringe from yarn, cut up gold circle confetti, crinkled gift filler paper, etc... It was fun using all kinds of random things ๐Ÿ˜Š
